Saccharine (2024- )
A slice of life story of four young people forming a band, whilst figuring out that, sometimes, feelings, friendships, and love are simply too sweet to handle alone.It is currently on-going and told sporadically through a series of social media posts and reels. A more tidied up comic/webtoon version is in the works, as well.
Character Design
Gita, Theo, Feli, and Damar are alumnis of the same stage. Together, they form a band, Bubble Drinks and Tea Parties.I wanted to give them each their own color that aligns with their personalities. Gita; cheerful - yellow. Theo; elusive - brown. Feli; calm - green. Damar; energetic - red.
Nawang Wulan (2022)
This animation project borrows elements from the folklore “Jaka Tarub” to showcase the strength of modern Indonesian women in the face of the expectations bestowed upon them.It tells the story of Nawang Wulan, a heavenly nymph who was exiled to earth. She was helped by the humans who found her, and learns of the ways of humanity.
Main Character Designs
Nawang Wulan presents as a figure who is able to be nurturing and warm yet also wild and raging in her passion.
Whilst Jaka Tarub, the original main character of the folklore, presents as a figure who is helpful, calm, and collected. At first to seemingly complement Nawang Wulan’s character, later to be exposed as her ‘adversary’.
World Designs
The world of Nawang Wulan is illustrated to have a flowy, whimsical feel, to accentuate that it is derived from a folklore.
